A Smithville shop does not need an iPad Pro because a US list called it a laptop killer. It needs a slate that survives a job site or a counter, an honest CAD sticker, and a clear line between a form in the browser and Outlook on Windows. Galaxy Tab A9+ — when a cheap Android tablet is enough

Buy Surface when the shop needs Windows on a slate — Outlook desktop, a Windows-only vendor tool — and you accept that the keyboard and Slim Pen are extra SKUs. “Up to 16 hours” is Microsoft’s May 2026 lab, not ours. If the desk is the real workplace, price a ThinkPad, Latitude, or ProBook instead of a kickstand. The seat is still Microsoft 365.

Windows vs iPadOS vs Android for Office and docs

• Surface: Windows. Outlook desktop and Windows Office are why you pay the 2-in-1 invoice.
• iPad: Microsoft 365 apps exist on iPadOS. That is not the same as a Windows desktop. The CAD suite is Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 in Canada.
