Best e-signature software for Canadian small businesses
Docusign Canada and Adobe.ca print CAD. Dropbox Sign and PandaDoc bill USD. A US ESIGN Act badge is not a Canadian legal opinion.
Last updated 6 September 2026. About 15 minutes. Research from public vendor docs and CRA pages — not a hands-on lab test.
A Smithville sole prop needs a client to sign a one-page agreement without printing it at the library. They do not need a CLM suite priced like a bank. US roundups skip the part that changes the bill: CAD or an honest USD label, tax on the SaaS invoice, and the difference between a click-to-sign and a “secure electronic signature” under Canadian federal rules.
This comparison is four options Canadians actually open: Docusign (Canada storefront in CA$), Dropbox Sign (HelloSign, USD), Adobe Acrobat (e-sign) (Acrobat teams on adobe.com/ca, CAD), and PandaDoc (USD proposals plus sign). E-signature prices checked against public vendor pages, 6 September 2026. Buttons are official marketing URLs, not affiliate trackers.
The pipeline that created the deal is CRM for Canadian small businesses. The invoice that follows the signature is invoicing software. The web form that is not a signature is form builders.
Who this page is for
- A sole prop who sends a handful of NDAs or service agreements a month and wants a CAD price card.
- A small sales team that already lives in HubSpot and wants PandaDoc or Dropbox Sign — and will accept USD.
- Someone already paying Acrobat who should not buy a second e-sign seat until they read Adobe’s Sign Solutions caveat.
- Not a land-titles closing or a will. Ask a lawyer; do not treat a vendor homepage as the statute.
Snapshot (public pages, 6 September 2026)
CAD is from Docusign’s Canada storefront and Adobe’s /ca business pages. Dropbox Sign and PandaDoc print USD. US ESIGN Act citations are labelled as US law.

- Certificate of completion and audit trail on all plans. eIDAS SeS on self-serve. No PIPEDA “legal in Canada” stamp on the price cards retrieved.
- Canada / data honesty
- Data residency is listed as contact-sales on the Canada self-serve compare table — not a published Canadian region on Personal / Standard Unlimited / Business Pro Unlimited.

Adobe Acrobat CA
- Published software price
- Acrobat Standard for teams CAD $21.99/month per license (annual, billed monthly). Acrobat Pro for teams CAD $30.99/month per license (annual, billed monthly) — Adobe’s Canada page calls this the PDF and e-signature solution with admin features.

- adobe.com/ca/acrobat/business/pricing-plans.html and /pricing/plans.html print CAD. Do not paste US Acrobat USD team prices as Canadian.
- What “legal” the vendor printed
- Acrobat Sign Solutions: contact sales. Adobe’s Canada business page says Standard and Pro e-signature capabilities do not offer the same level of compliance as Acrobat Sign Solutions.

Unlimited envelopes through the web app. Additional tax may apply. Bulk send, PowerForms, Web Forms, and APIs count toward an automation-send allowance (100/user/year on annual plans), not the unlimited web-app send. SMS delivery add-on starting at CA$0.50/delivery (additional tax may apply). ID verification add-on starting at CA$3.30/attempt (additional tax may apply). ecom.docusign.com/en-CA/plans-and-pricing/esignature prints CA$. The US storefront (ecom.docusign.com/plans-and-pricing/esignature) prints unlabelled dollars that match a USD list — do not paste those as CAD. Data residency is listed as contact-sales on the Canada self-serve compare table — not a published Canadian region on Personal / Standard Unlimited / Business Pro Unlimited. Recipients do not need a Docusign account. Payment collection sits on Business Pro Unlimited — that is still not a published Interac till.

Dropbox Sign (HelloSign) — USD, unlimited requests
Official sign.dropbox.com/products/dropbox-sign/pricing (6 September 2026): Essentials US$15/month (US$180 billed yearly). A first-year promo on the same page shows US$10.05/month (US$120.60/year); after the promo, billing resumes at the regular price. Standard US$25/user/month (starting at US$600 billed yearly). Promo on the same page: US$17.50/user/month (US$420/year). Premium: custom quote. sign.dropbox.com/products/dropbox-sign/pricing prints USD on every plan card. No CAD list. Dropbox Sign’s pricing FAQ says eSignatures are legally binding under the US ESIGN Act of 2000. That is a US statute, not PIPEDA and not a Canadian court ruling. The page also advertises a free plan for “just need to sign a document” — confirm the current free quota at signup; this page will not invent a monthly cap the product card did not print.

Adobe Acrobat — CAD teams plans, Sign Solutions is separate
Official adobe.com/ca/acrobat/business/pricing-plans.html (6 September 2026): Acrobat Standard for teams CAD $21.99/month per license (annual, billed monthly). Acrobat Pro for teams CAD $30.99/month per license (annual, billed monthly) — Adobe’s Canada page calls this the PDF and e-signature solution with admin features. Acrobat Studio for teams CAD $38.99/month per license (annual, billed monthly). adobe.com/ca/acrobat/business/pricing-plans.html and /pricing/plans.html print CAD. Do not paste US Acrobat USD team prices as Canadian. Sources: https://www.adobe.com/ca/acrobat/business/pricing-plans.html; https://www.adobe.com/ca/acrobat/business/pricing/plans.html.
Acrobat Sign Solutions: contact sales. Adobe’s Canada business page says Standard and Pro e-signature capabilities do not offer the same level of compliance as Acrobat Sign Solutions. If you already pay Acrobat Pro for PDFs, start there. Do not buy a second “Adobe Sign” seat from a US blog that quoted USD $16.99.

PandaDoc — USD proposals, then a signature
Official pandadoc.com/pricing (6 September 2026): Free $0 USD — compare table: 5 documents sent/month; hero also says 60 docs/year. Starter US$19/seat/month (page: save up to 46% vs monthly). Business US$49/seat/month — CRM integrations, custom branding, deal rooms. Enterprise: per-seat or per-document, contact sales. pandadoc.com/pricing prints USD on Free / Starter / Business. The page says prices exclude any applicable taxes. No CAD list. Data residency listed as US or EU — not a Canadian region. Compare table lists the U.S. ESIGN Act of 2000. That is not a Canadian e-signature statute. Source: https://www.pandadoc.com/pricing/.
Business is the CRM-integration tier. That is why this page cross-links CRM — not because PandaDoc is HubSpot. Collecting payment on a signed proposal is still your GST/HST problem, same as invoicing.

A practical pick
- Occasional envelopes and you want a printed CA$ card: Docusign Personal (CA$13/month billed annually, five envelopes).
- Small team, unlimited web-app sends in CAD: Docusign Standard Unlimited — budget the renewal at CA$40/user/month, not only the first-year CA$33.
- Already on Acrobat for PDFs: Acrobat Pro for teams at CAD $30.99/license. Read the Sign Solutions caveat before you promise a regulated workflow.
- Already in Dropbox / HubSpot and willing to pay USD: Dropbox Sign Essentials or Standard. Treat the $10.05 / $17.50 lines as promos.
- Quotes and proposals that become the signed agreement: PandaDoc Starter or Business in USD, then invoice from a ledger.
- You only needed a web form, not a signature: form builders for Canadian small businesses.
